Friday Digital Roundup

The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!

We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both

Meschi Consultants @MeschiConsult

When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

A Really Simple Way to Improve Your Website’s SEO with Blogging

Blogging, Search Engine Optimisation, SEO, Websites

I wanted to talk to you about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

SEO, done well, helps your business get found on Google. One of the ways (out of literally hundreds of ways) to help do that is to create great content.

But here’s a thought…

If you create great content that answers people’s questions after speaking to the very people you want to help, you can then send them the link to that blog to answer their question.

I do this a lot. I do it on LinkedIn, Facebook groups, and places online where I search for people who are looking for the answer to a question that I’ve covered on the blog.

I’ll answer it very concisely in the comments and then I’ll pop the blog link in.

This sends them to my website.

A Really Simple Way to Improve Your Website’s SEO with Blogging.

Here’s the point:

If you do this, you’ll send people to your website (new people and returning people) and this is a good signal for Google.

Google looks at loads and loads of different signals, around 200 factors in fact, but one of those factors is traffic and returning traffic.

By encouraging people to go to (and return to) your website like this you’re ticking loads of boxes!

  • You’re sharing great (and free) content.
  • You’re being really useful on social media.
  • You’re pushing your brand out there.
  • But you’re also pushing traffic back to your website, and that is really good for search engine optimisation.

SEO is way more than technical links and clever back end stuff. A lot of it is purely being great at what you do, being an authority, and being the person who adds more value.

Send them to your website and Google will see this. Do it more often (and other great things) and you’ll soon get more traffic thanks to Google trusting you more.

Find reasons for Google to notice you. This is just one of them, but it’s so simple…
