Friday Digital Roundup

The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!

We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both

Meschi Consultants @MeschiConsult

When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

Not using video yet? Your business might be missing out

Wed 21st May 2025

Let’s clear something up – blogs, social posts, email marketing? Still absolutely brilliant. We write loads for our clients, and they deliver results.

But here’s the thing: if you’re only relying on written content, you might be leaving a load of opportunity on the table. Video isn’t here to replace what’s working – it’s here to supercharge it.

This isn’t a pivot. It’s a power-up.

If you’ve already got a content strategy (or even a wobbly attempt at one), adding video could take it from decent to unstoppable.

Not using video yet? Your business might be missing out

1.People Are Wired for Video – Give Them What They Want

Blogs are great for depth and authority. Social posts build presence. But video? Video grabs attention instantly and makes ideas easier to absorb.

Your audience aren’t lazy – they’re busy. And sometimes, they’d rather watch a 60-second explanation than read a 600-word blog.

That doesn’t mean ditch the blogs. It means pair them. Serve both the skimmers and the scrollers.

2. It’s Not Either/Or – It’s Both

This isn’t about picking favourites. It’s about stacking formats.

That one blog you spent ages writing? You can turn it into:

A 60-second video summary
📹 Several short-form clips
📩 An email teaser
🧠 A discussion point on social

You’re not creating more work – you’re creating more value from the work you’ve already done.

3.Video Boosts the Visibility of Everything Else

Platforms like LinkedIn, TikTok, and Instagram are prioritising video in their algorithms. That means if you post it, they’ll push it further.

So when you turn your written content into a short video, you’re not changing the message – you’re just giving it more chance to be seen.

4. Video Adds the ‘Human’ Bit Your Audience Craves

People trust people. Seeing your face, hearing your voice – it builds connection faster than text ever could (even really good text). It shows you’re real, relatable, and not just a logo with a caption. And in a world full of AI-generated fluff, showing up as you is a serious competitive edge.

5. Social Platforms Are Screaming for Video

Seriously. Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn – they’re all doubling down on video. If you’re posting video content, you’re doing yourself a favour. More reach, more eyeballs, more chance to get noticed.

6. You Don’t Need Fancy Kit – Just a Bit of Courage

We’re not asking you to be a movie star. You don’t need to hire a videographer or build a studio. You already have what you need:

A phone
A bit of natural light
Something useful to say

That’s enough to start.

Messy, unpolished, real – that’s what performs best. That’s what connects

Pro Tip – Add a cheap ring light and a lapel mic later if you fancy levelling up.

Final Thoughts: It’s Time to Add Video to the Mix

This isn’t about throwing your blogs in the bin or dumping your content strategy. It’s about levelling up. Giving your audience more ways to connect. And making the most of what you’re already doing.

Start now.

  • Pick one customer question
  • Write 3 things you’d say about it
  • Record it in 90 seconds
  • Post it with a CTA
  • Repeat weekly
