Friday Digital Roundup

The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!

We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both

Meschi Consultants @MeschiConsult

When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

How To: Create A Social Media Strategy For Your Business

Tue 20th Jun 2023
Social Media

Has social media strategy got your head in a spin? Don’t worry. We’re here to help.

In this blog, I’ve rustled up some tips and tricks to help you create a top-notch social media strategy for your business. So, saddle up as we ride into the world of social media strategy and success!

How To: Create A Social Media Strategy For Your Business

Step one: Define your brand’s personality

Before you embark on your social media adventure (if you can call it that), defining your brand’s personality is essential. Take a moment to understand the core traits that make your business special. Are you playful and fun-loving or professional and reliable?

This is a helpful visual to give you some inspiration.

Once you have a clear grasp of your brand’s personality, you can get to creating content that truly resonates with your target audience.

Step two: Understand your audience

Speaking of audience, it’s important to understand who exactly you’re talking to. Take some time to learn about the kinds of people you want to engage with on social media. Who are they? What are their interests? How old are they? Do they like memes?

Monitor who follows you on social media and interacts with your posts. Who likes, shares, and comments on your content? Look for common characteristics such as age, location, and interests. Then you can use that demographic information to target similar people who aren’t yet following your brand.

You can tailor your content to capture their attention and forge a meaningful connection by gaining insights into your audience’s preferences and needs.

Step three: Choose your platform

It’s like the wild west out there, and with new social media platforms popping up all the time (anyone on Lemon8 yet?), it’s important to pick the ones that best align with your business goals and where your target audience like to hang out online.

This graphic may give you some ideas but it WILL DATE QUICKLY and is not meant to be instructional.

The key to success on social media is to target the right people with relevant content. Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn or TikTok, choose platforms with the greatest potential for effectively reaching and engaging your desired audience.

Step four: Get your content in-line

Okay – this is the fun bit (for me, anyway!) – time to create some content! Content is like, the heart and soul of social media. It’s what keeps your audience interested and coming back for more.

This Sprout Social graphic might give you some ideas.

Take some time to brainstorm some captivating content ideas and have some fun bringing your ideas to life! Experiment with a mix of content types, like photos, videos, blogs. Tell stories, educated, entertain, and above all, be authentic. Building trust and genuine connections with your audience is key.

Step five: Consistency!

We bang on about this ALL. THE. TIME. but honestly, consistency is the secret ingredient to social media success. Establish a regular posting schedule and stick to it. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or biweekly, maintain a steady flow of content that keeps your audience engaged.

Buffer’s consistency pizza is simple but shows what’s important.

And if you want to be reeeeeally good, keep everything visually consistent too. Use consistent colours, fonts, and imagery across your social media platforms. Not only does this help to create a cohesive feed, it also makes your posts easily recognisable!

Step six: Engage and interact

Social media is all about building relationships. Be responsive and proactive in engaging with your audience. Respond to comments, answer questions, and participate in conversations.

Don’t be a phoney. Show genuine interest and let your audience know there’s a real person behind the screen. By fostering meaningful interactions, you’ll create a loyal and dedicated community around your brand.

Step seven: Keep an eye on the competition

It can be wise to keep one eye on what others in your industry are doing on social media. Study their strategies, observe their successes and failures, and seek inspiration to differentiate your brand.

But remember – be authentic and true to your own brand identity. Take what you learn, apply it creatively, and try and stay ahead of the curve. At Spaghetti we focus on ourselves and we’re more keen on collaboration than competition.

If you need some help grabbing your social media by the reins, get in touch. We might be able to help!
